【Brief description】In order to gather global wisdom and discuss development plans, and to promote the development of the world's new energy vehicles, the 2023 World New Energy Vehicle Conference will be held during the Munich Motor Show from September 6th to 7th. This is also the first time that the conference has been held outside of China. During the conference, government officials, institutions, and high-level executives will give keynote speeches and presentations on topics such as "problems encountered in industrial development," "how to deepen cooperation in various fields," and "accelerating the comprehensive marketization process of new energy vehicles."
The Germany International Motor Show and Mobility (IAA Mobility), also known as the Munich Motor Show, officially opened on September 5, 2023, local time. The theme of this exhibition is "Experience Connected Mobility" and focuses on sustainability and the latest mobility technologies. It is reported that compared to 2021, the number of Chinese exhibitors has more than doubled this year and China has become one of the main sources of exhibitors for this event.

In order to gather global wisdom and discuss development plans, and to promote the development of the world's new energy vehicles, the 2023 World New Energy Vehicle Conference will be held during the Munich Motor Show from September 6th to 7th.

With the accelerating global electrification, Europe has become an important market for new energy vehicles. In his keynote speech during the conference, Vice Minister of Industry and Information Technology, Xin Guobin, stated that China will firmly uphold a global development concept, maintain the multilateral trade system, and promote the construction of a fair, rational, and transparent international economic and trade rules. China will strengthen intergovernmental collaboration, enhance development strategies and cooperation, and deepen industrial division of labor and cooperation. China will also strengthen cross-border technological cooperation and innovation, and leverage platforms for international exchanges and cooperation in new energy vehicles.
Create a global ecology for new energy vehicles
As the development of new energy vehicles has become an industry consensus, it is necessary to strengthen cooperation between governments, enterprises, and the upstream and downstream sectors to address the problems and challenges faced during the development of new energy vehicles. Wang Chuanfu, Chairman and President of BYD Co., Ltd., pointed out that the automotive industry is the largest industry globally, and no company can achieve perfection in every link, stage, or technology. Collaboration along the industrial chain is needed to complement each other's strengths and weaknesses. Xin Guobin emphasized that global enterprises should leverage their respective advantages, carry out joint technological breakthroughs, accelerate transformation and upgrading, and work together to create new technologies, new industries, and new models for the automotive sector. This will provide intrinsic motivation for the development of the industry.

How to share the new opportunities presented by the rapid development of the Chinese new energy vehicle market and promote the sound and perfect development of the new energy automotive ecosystem is another challenge. Wang Jun, President of Chongqing Changan Automobile Co., Ltd., stated that with a focus on the Chinese market, Changan will uphold the concept of open cooperation and deepen exchanges and cooperation with strategic partners such as Bosch, Continental, and Infineon. In addition, Changan will continue to implement its globalization strategy, vigorously promote the overseas expansion of new energy products, provide Changan automobile's mobility solutions to consumers worldwide, and enhance the image of Chinese brands overseas.

How to meet challenges together
Although the Chinese new energy vehicle market has become the largest in the world, the globalization of new energy vehicles still faces many challenges. Wang Jun pointed out that "we still face problems such as unbalanced development, battery safety, energy supplementation efficiency, and cost effectiveness." One of the common key technologies that the global new energy vehicle industry urgently needs to overcome is the power battery system. Wan Gang, Chairman of the China Association for Science and Technology, suggested strengthening basic research, technological innovation, and market promotion of solid-state batteries and new materials batteries; promoting high energy density, high safety, all-weather, and efficient integrated technologies for battery systems; and accelerating the construction of a battery utilization and resource recycling system.

In terms of user experience, the improvement of basic infrastructure such as charging facilities is urgently needed. Li Bin, Founder, Chairman, and CEO of NIO, said at the conference, "We have always hoped to improve users' charging and battery swapping experiences. We believe that only when companies in the electric vehicle industry surpass traditional fuel-powered ones, can electric vehicles truly become popular."
Today, new energy vehicles have various characteristics such as diversified energy sources, high efficiency propulsion, and zero emissions during operation. They have become a common choice for reducing greenhouse gas emissions and improving the global ecological environment in the field of road transportation, as well as a major direction for the transformation and upgrading of the automotive industry.
During the conference, participants reached a consensus on strengthening international cooperation in policies, standards, and regulations based on technological frontiers and industrial development needs. They also explored cooperation and communication in areas such as carbon emission management, and promoted the mutual recognition, sharing, and integration of carbon emission accounting methods and basic data.
