From HONGQI NEVs navigating the European streets to the humanitarian aid in the Southeast Asian earthquake-stricken areas; from the charity events of promoting women’s development in the Middle East to the skills and career development training for employees at FAW TRUCKS South Africa, —as a representative of China’s national automotive industry, FAW has deeply embedded environmental, social, and governance (ESG) principles into its global strategy and consistently passing on its mission and accountability of “Chinese Manufacturing”.
In October 2025, FAW was elected for inclusion in the 2025 ESG Excellence Practices Report; in September 2024, HONGQI was awarded the “Best Case for International Cooperation Award for Environmental Protection” at the first Sino-Europe Corporate ESG Best Practice Conference; in 2023, FAW’s overseas responsibility practices were documented in the SASAC Blue Book on Overseas Social Responsibility of Stated-owned Central Enterprises (2023). These honors bear witness not only to FAW’s steadfast strides of “going global”, but also to its tangible footprint in global responsibility practices.
Environmental(E): Green practice, pioneering a low-carbon future
Facing the shared challenge of global climate change, FAW proactively responded to the “Dual Carbon” goal, systematically advanced the green transformation of its entire industrial chain, and constructed a low-carbon operation mechanism covering R&D, manufacturing, and trade.
At the technical level, HONGQI developed TIANGONG pure electric platform, HONGHU hybrid platform and JIUZHANG intelligent platform, driving the iteration of green products through technological innovation. FAW TRUCKS deeply cultivated “Zero Carbon Technology”, released the world’s first “ammonia-hydrogen fusion engine” and liquid hydrogen fuel cell tractor and built the “XINGYI” fuel cell advanced technology platform, constantly leading the zero carbon technology development of commercial vehicle.

At the manufacturing level, FAW has vigorously advanced the construction of green factories and “zero-waste” factories. Taking HONGQI Fanrong Factory as an example, its rooftop photovoltaic system generates 8.2 million kWh of electricity annually, reducing carbon emissions by 6,370 tons per year. The supporting rainwater recycling system saves over 10,000 tons of water each year, demonstrating the essence of green manufacturing through tangible operational data.

HONGQI NEV in Europe
In terms of global product expansion, multiple new energy vehicles including HONGQI E-HS9, EH7 and BESTUNE NAT have successfully debuted in Europe, Latin America and the Middle East. For example, HONGQI E-HS9 sold over 1000 units within only six months after its launch in Norway, ranking among the Top Three in the local mid-to-large luxury SUV segment. Now, HONGQI has established a presence in over 40 countries through more than 180 retail outlets, consistently serving global users with its green product force.
Social(S): Localization empowerment, jointly promoting community development
FAW consistently adheres to local talent strategy in its overseas operations. To date, the localization rate of its overseas workforce has reached 70%, systematically cultivating high-quality automotive industry professionals while boosting local employment.
Taking FAW TRUCKS South Africa as an example, it has directly created over 500 jobs and supported thousands more indirectly, spanning managerial, technical, and skilled positions. The company has also established two major training centers, providing cumulative training to more than 3,000 employees and significantly enhancing the professional capabilities of the local automotive talents.
Since joining FAW TRUCKS South Africa, Patrick Malumba obtained his diesel technician certification through company training and got promoted from team leader to section supervisor. He stated: "FAW has not only improved my life but also provided me with a platform for growth. My Chinese colleagues and I have built a profound friendship – this place feels like home."

It was not only an invaluable learning experience but also a meaningful professional exchange and cultural experience."
In the field of public welfare, FAW has been consistently engaged in education support, care for the vulnerable groups and community constructions.
