Recently, BYD's Mexico subsidiary delivered the first batch of 20 electric buses to the Mexico City transportation authorities, which have been put into operation. This collaboration involves a total of 55 all-electric buses, marking the largest single delivery of electric buses in Mexico to date. The delivery ceremony was attended by Martí Batres Guadarrama, Mayor of Mexico City, Andrés Lajous Loeza, Secretary of the Mexico City Transportation Department, Rosario Castro Escorcia, General Manager of Mexico City's Metrobús public transit system, Alberto Adib Carrera, Promotion Director of Mexico's National Financial Institution, Adrián Escamilla, Executive Director of the Mexico Airport Corridor Center, Rafael Burgos, Director of Enel X, and Zou Zhou, National Manager of BYD's Mexico subsidiary.

These buses will operate on Line 4 of the Mexico City transit system, contributing to the city's transition to green transportation. Line 4 in Mexico City is 35 kilometers long, with 40 stations, serving approximately 120,000 daily commuters. The operation of these 55 BYD electric buses is expected to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 5,845 tons annually compared to traditional fuel vehicles, making a significant contribution to improving air quality in Mexico City.

The BYD electric buses delivered this time have a length of 15 meters, a low floor for easy boarding and alighting, a maximum capacity of 130 passengers, a range of 200 kilometers, a battery capacity of 300 kWh, and a short charging time of 3 hours. The electric buses operate quietly, helping to reduce noise pollution. Additionally, this batch of electric buses provides accessibility facilities for people with disabilities, with a lowered suspension height to offer a convenient and comfortable barrier-free travel experience for special passengers. To ensure public safety, these electric buses are equipped with a communication system connected to the control center, enabling real-time synchronization of the internal situation.

Rosario Castro Escorcia, General Manager of Mexico City's Metrobús public transit system, stated, "Zero-emission, sustainable transportation solutions are crucial. Since 2018, we have been committed to technological reforms in transportation. This collaboration with BYD is a significant manifestation of Mexico's public transit system transitioning to electrification."
